Meet Our Team

“Sometimes our lives are touched by gentle friends who stay for only awhile.” Hercio Dias
Lyndsey Powers, Rainbow Journey's founder and President, clearly remembers being 7 years old and telling her mother not to get too hopeful about the idea of grandchildren because she intended to devote her life to helping animals; approximately two weeks later she came home with her first stray.
Fast forward (many) years and many, many rescued strays later, she and her husband moved to Texas to take over management of the cat rescue her father had begun years earlier (yes, it runs in the family). She formalized the rescue into Rainbow Journey, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation, and along with her dedicated board of directors, envisioned a safe and loving end-of-life environment for the sick and elderly cats living in the feral colonies they cared for around Kerrville, TX. That vision soon became a vital part of their mission.
Tragically, Lyndsey passed away after a short battle with cancer in 2022. Her husband Matt and other devoted cat lovers are continuing her mission.
“What greater gift than the love of a cat.” - Charles Dickens
Skye Alexander, Rainbow Journey's secretary, was born into a family that had a cat and she’s never been without one since. Skye now shares her home with Zoe, a five-year-old black Manx with extra toes on her front paws.

“Keep rescuing animals. You may lose your mind,
but you will surely find your soul.”
Cynthia Koock, Rainbow Journey’s treasurer, has been involved in cat rescue and TNR for the better part of two decades. Her current household includes four cats, a herd of deer, two foxes, a feral mama kitty with a new litter of kittens, a family of raccoons and Taco, the rescue Chihuahua. Other than that, life is pretty quiet.
We Our Volunteers

Without our volunteers none of this would
be possible.
We are very grateful for their help.
